This collection includes publications of the energy resources program. BLM-managed lands are a great potential source of renewable energy, giving BLM a leading role in a new energy economy based on a move to large-scale production of solar, wind, geothermal, and biomass energy. The BLM also manages nonrenewable energy including oil, gas, and coal operations that make significant contributions to the domestic energy supply. Not all lands with energy potential are appropriate for development. The BLM ensures that proposed projects meet all applicable environmental laws and regulations and works with local communities, the states, industry, and other federal agencies in the approval process.
